Akshay Kumar On Wearing Saree In Laxmmi Bomb: 'Yeh Apne Aap Mein Ek Experience Tha, Shoot Ke Waqt Khul Jaati Thi'

Akshay Kumar On Wearing Saree In Laxmmi Bomb: 'Yeh Apne Aap Mein Ek Experience Tha, Shoot Ke Waqt Khul Jaati Thi'
Akshay Kumar's upcoming film, Laxmmi Bomb will be releasing on Disney Plus Hotstar multiplex. A few moments back, Akshay along with a few more Bollywood celebs concluded a virtual press conference, announcing the release of their films with its latest posters, on the platform. However, the exact dates of these films have not been revealed yet. 

While talking about his film, Laxmmi Bomb, Akshay recalled the time when he had to wear saree and shoot. According to the actor that itself was an experience to remember. 

"In one word, I'd say it's quite graceful and also, the most comfortable outfit in the world. Saree pehna apne aap mein experience tha. Initially, I couldn't walk and kaafi baar while shooting, saree khul bhi jaati thi. Thankfully, my dress dada was always ready for my rescue. But I think one should experience this," said Akshay.

The Padman actor also added that he has immense respect for women who drape a saree. Akshay said, "Hats off to the Indian women who wear it so beautifully."

Akshay then went on to talk about the intensity of the role and revealed that it has been one of the toughest ones he has played till now, "Laxmmi Bomb was a mentally intensive role. It is 'never experienced before' kind of role. I took as many retakes to give the perfect shot”
He further added that Raghava gave him the opportunity to experience something new with the film. 

Speaking about playing a transgender character, he said, ”I would like to thank my director Lawrence sir. He introduced me to a version of me that I didn't know existed. This character is different to all the characters I have ever portrayed. Even after doing 150 films, I was genuinely excited to be on set every single day, pushing the boundaries, learning more about myself.

He further added, ”This film has taught me to be even more understanding about gender equality. Be anything you want, but don't be ignorant. Kindness is key to peace.”

Varun Dhawan hosted the event while other guests present were Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Alia Bhatt and Udhay Shankar, President, The Walt Disney Company, Asia Pacific. Disney Plus Hotstar multiplex will go LIVE with its first film on July 24, which will be Sushant Singh Rajput's last film, Dil Bechaara, followed by rest of the films like Bhuj, Laxmmi Bomb, Sadak 2 and more.
