83: Deepika Padukone Accused Of Encouraging Patriarchy For ‘Every Woman Who Puts Her Husband’s Dream Before Her Own’ Post
Not very long ago, Deepika Padukone had unveiled her first look as Romi Bhatia from Kabir Khan’s upcoming film 83, which co-stars Ranveer Singh as the former Indian skipper Kapil Dev. The film chronicles the Indian cricket team’s victory at the 1983 world cup. While Deepika’s look convinced and all, it’s her message that irked a section of the internet, feminists to be precise. A part of the actress’ caption that read, “83 for me in many ways is an ode to every woman who puts her husband’s dream before her own,” has brought at the receiving end of criticism.

As per the netizens, it’s about time that women stop sacrificing their dreams for others, which also includes their better halves. Deepika Padukone was also accused of promoting the concept of patriarchy through her tweet. A user tweeted how it’s sheer disappointing to see Deepika promoting such message, while she has always been vocal and against such issues in the past.  “Just to promote the film such a backward chatter. How annoying,” someone tweeted.

While other people wrote, “good God, ‘every woman who puts her husband’s dream before her own’ has been happening since the dawn of time and needs to stop. NOW,” “@deepikapadukone we aren’t in ‘83 anymore. Patriarchy is dying; let’s look for those husbands who put their wife’s dream before their own, in the new millenia?”
