Siddhant Chaturvedi Aka MC Sher's MOST CANDID INTERVIEW: 'I Was Rejected In Many Auditions'- EXCLUSIVE
Last year, Siddhant Chaturvedi made a promising debut through Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. With Ranveer Singh leading the cast as the Gully Boy, Siddhant’s MC Sher didn’t stand unnoticed. In fact, he shone equally bright in front of Ranveer in his very first film. Naturally, the talented newbie bagged numerous awards and accolades.

Siddhant has 2 interesting projects in his kitty- Yash Raj Films’ Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Shakun Batra’s next with Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday. If 2019 was good, Siddhant hopes 2020 to be better. We engaged in a quick conversation with the actor, as he excitedly spoke about his future projects and also narrated his process of going through auditions, facing rejections and finally, making it as MC Sher in Gully Boy. WATCH VIDEO BELOW:

Being an outsider, Siddhant didn’t have it easy in films as he spoke about getting rejected at several auditions. “They thought I was very unconventional, with tiny eyes, curly hair, not the hero types. So, stereotyping is a thing in casting. They used to stereotype me to be from Delhi, Haryana. Nobody thought that I could be one from the streets, like I was in Gully Boy or I could be a boy from a rural village like I was in the Inside Edge.”

He further added, “So that's why it was a conscious decision for me to choose these roles. I wanted to break out of it as I was being typecast. So rejections were on the basis of looks, at times I even lost out to some star kids.”

It was indeed a blessing for the actor to finally land a meaty role in Gully Boy. He hadn’t expected his performance to receive the amount of love and fame it did eventually. Even the fact that the film in totality did exceedingly well and was sent to Oscars. But sadly, it didn’t make it to the final list. We asked if it pinched him and he said he was slightly disappointed, but was happy about the fact that his first film could reach a wider audience on a global level.

Next, he spoke about his 2 upcoming films and one could see the sparkle in his eyes as he confessed how he always wanted to be the ‘LEADING HERO’ of a film and moving on, he wants to realise his dream and do subjects that allow him to do just that.
