Abir Chatterjee: Shooting for Switzerland made me feel like I was reliving fatherhood
The handsome actor plays father to two daughters in his upcoming film Switzerland. The film, directed by debut director Sauvik Kundu, also stars Rukmini Maitra. Switzerland is produced by actor Jeet’s production house and is expected to release in Summer 2020
Beyond the sexy cleft on his cheek and the towering gorgeousness is a doting father. And for Abir Chatterjee, shooting for Switzerland felt like experiencing fatherhood all over again, albeit on-screen. The Tolly heartthrob has a daughter in real life and in his upcoming film, he has two daughters. Talking about Switzerland, Abir Chatterjee says, “It felt like reliving fatherhood. I was surrounded by beautiful women on the set, including the two little girls who play my daughters in the film. Jokes aside, it was my responsibility as a senior actor to make them feel at ease.”
Known for his huge female fan following, is Abir Chatterjee worried that playing not just a husband, but also a father might leave his woman admirers heartbroken? The actor laughs, “I don’t think so. In Switzerland my fans will get to see a different side of me, a side they haven’t seen on-screen yet. I hope I will get more fans after this film. I would love to get more female fans!”
Abir Chatterjee is excited about working with debutante director Sauvik Kundu. “I’ve always tried to work with new directors. Dhrubo Banerjee’s debut film Guptodhoner Shondhane was also with me. I love the raw energy and madness that a first-timer brings on set. That passion gets me fired too,” says Abir.
Switzerland brings together Rukmini Maitra and Abir Chatterjee as the lead pair for the first time. The handsome actor feels that a new pair garners fresh interest. Abir says, “New pairs look good visually, because it’s a pairing no one has seen before. Rukmini and I had worked together for a print commercial long ago. I had realised back then that we look good together. Though looking good on print and creating good chemistry as husband and wife on-screen are totally different.”
